Well…These pictures are only of half of my garden..the other half is behind me, the sun was low so I couldn’t get very good photos in the shade.
Right now I have Cauliflower, Purple Cauliflower, Simpson Leaf Lettuce, Bok Choy, Butter Crunch Lettuce, Romaine Lettuce, Bistro Mix Lettuce, Red Leaf Lettuce, Argula, Celery, Broccoli, Spinach, Collards, White Onions, Elephant Garlic, Regular Garlic, Shallots, Garlic Chives, Beets (Gold and 2 kinds of red)
Red Swiss Chard , Brussel Sprouts, Red Cabbage, and 7 different kinds of Chilies, and Sweet Bell Peppers and White Icicle Radishes.
Also I cook with fresh Herbs so, I have Tarragon, Basil, Sage, Lemon Grass, Thyme, Lemon Thyme, Parsley (curled and Iitalian), Rosemary, Leeks,
Oregano. For Fruit I have Strawberries, Green Grapes and Pink Grapefruit.
So there you go. I said before that variety is the spice of life. The only ones eating out of my garden are my wife and I, unless y’all want some.
Gardening is easy, rewarding and relaxing. Yes, you can grow a garden in this desert country!! Farmer Darrell
But I guess I’ll just have to settle for some free advice.:)
What do you do about cabbage loopers? In my first garden they ate everything but the tomatoes, carrots, and onions. Oh, and of course they left my marigolds.:)
Hi Terrie..I hope your garden is doing well! First off, in answer to your question about cabbage loopers. I am not an advocate of using pesticides.
However, I am not going to stand idly by and watch harmful insects eat up my garden. I have found a product made by Schultz that is water based and the active ingredient is made from the chrysanthemum flower. This product works great to kill on contact unwanted pests. Then you can wash off your plant with water to remove the spray. It is about as natural as you can get and works well. Being that it is made with chrysanthemem flower I feel safe using it to control my garden. I still point out that my garden is organic, and I use this product only in an extreme case!. You can find it at Walgreen’s
and at Bakers Nursery. It comes in a green spray bottle. Remember a little goes a long way, so use it only if you HAVE TO !!! Farmer Darrell

Enjoyed seeing these photos and reading your blog. Glad to see all the vegetables being raised in the desert. Wondering how you keep rabbits away.
